Wasps & Winter time

Only the Queens survive the Winter.

As the weather cools, the existing queen wasp reaches the end of her life and the social structure within the colony begins to break down.All wasps die except for the new fertilised queens who leave the nest, finding a place to hibernate overwinter until the following year. They will make a new colony in Spring.
